Updated 11th May 2009

Hello and welcome to the North West Balloon and Airship club website.

So Trentham Gardens was a success!! The people who came would dearly love to come back next year, I would like to personally thank Tony Derbyshire for all the hard work he has put in for the run up to the meet. He has constantly been in touch with the powers that be at Trentham in order for us to be there. Trentham is now becoming a regular feature on the NWBAC calendar and I would hope the new committee in November will still carry on this great weekend.

I would also like to thank Tom for this issue of Compass Points. We still do not have an Editor so Tom has accepted the invitation to do this edition. So if you would like to do the next Edition then please speak to me or Tom.

There will be a total of 5 committee places available next year! 2 from last year and 3 from this year, it concerns me that there is no one interested in becoming a committee member! The club WILL NOT survive next year with just 3 committee members. You have been warned!

There are quite a few balloon meets for us all to go to this year and they are available to download on the club site. The only TWO that are missing so far I think are Burnley which is the first weekend in August. (1st, 2nd) and Capesthorne Hall, Macclesfield (27th 28th June). These two festivals are PAID festivals were will be offering £100 for a tether and £100 for a nightglow. There will be free gas for the first 10 “private” entries (i.e no sponsorship balloons!!) It is the usual format for the weekend and if you would like to know more details, please let me know.

The next Compass Points is out in July so get your thinking caps on for a little story for the next Edition. Any stories will be welcomed.

Happy landings

Alex.
